Qatar Ultra Runners
Volunteer With Us
The races do not happen without you.
The first crossing of Qatar in 2017 was made possible by a group of volunteers, most of whom had never been near a race before. They set up the aid stations, handed out the food, drove the support vehicles and waited in the desert for runners they had never met.
Nine years later, nothing has changed about that. Every race we run depends on people who give up a weekend to stand at a water table, mark a course, or drive the last runner home.
Sign up to volunteer
It takes about three minutes. Nothing is decided by filling this in - we will be in touch before you are asked to commit to anything.
Applications stay open all year. We will contact you when volunteer registration opens for the next race — there is no deadline to miss.
Behind Every Finish Line
Every QUR race has the moments everyone sees — the start line, the runners, the medals and the finish.
Then there are the moments that happen behind it all.
Before the First Runner Arrives
While most of the city is still asleep, our volunteers are already moving. Aid stations are being set up, water is being loaded, course signs are going out and the start line is coming to life.
For many of our events, the volunteer day begins long before the first runner takes a step.
The People Runners Remember
Ask a runner about a difficult race and they will often remember an aid station.
Someone filling their bottle. Someone finding them food. Someone shouting their name when they needed it most.
For a few minutes, a volunteer can turn a difficult part of the race into the reason someone keeps going.
Until the Last Runner Is Home
Our job does not finish when the winner crosses the line.
Volunteers stay at checkpoints, finish lines and out on the course until the final runners make their way through. Sweep teams follow behind, support vehicles stay ready and someone is still waiting at the finish.
Because every runner deserves the same welcome, whether they arrive first or last.
More Than a Race Day
Some people join us for one event. Then somehow, we see them again at the next one.
Over the years, volunteers have become part of the QUR community — meeting new people, sharing very long race days, travelling across Qatar with us and collecting stories that are difficult to explain unless you were there.
You do not need to be a runner to be part of the journey.
You just need to show up.
What volunteers do
- Aid stations — setting up, handing out water, food and refreshments, and keeping runners moving
- Course marshalling — directing runners, managing junctions and keeping the route safe

- Start and finish line — bag drop, medals, results and looking after finishers
- Transport and sweeping — support vehicles, and picking up runners who stop before the finish
- Medical support — for qualified volunteers, working alongside our medical team
